Bio-Works’ WorkBeads™ 40 IDA resins offer a versatile solution for protein purification. These resins are based on the iminodiacetic acid (IDA) chelating group and are available as both uncharged resins and resins pre-charged with Ni²⁺, Co²⁺, Cu²⁺, or Zn²⁺ metal ions. The uncharged resin can be easily loaded with a wide variety of divalent or trivalent transition metal ions, including Ga³⁺ or Fe³⁺, before use. Once charged, these resins are ideal for Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatography (IMAC) purification of His-tagged proteins or other proteins with a natural affinity for metal ions, which are immobilized via a metal-chelating ligand on the chromatography resin.
The selectivity of the metal-charged resin depends on both the choice of ligand (IDA or NTA) and the metal ion used. Additionally, the uncharged resins can be used for the removal of divalent metal ions.
